TopoGX - Zoom Options

TopoGX makes it easy to navigate around your drawing.

Mostly you can just use your scroll-mouse to zoom and pan, but there are a number of options on the View->Zoom menu and the Zoom Toolbar toolbar.

Zoom In

This option magnifies the centre part of the view to fill the whole view, so that you can see more detail.

Zoom Out

This option brings more of the drawing into view by drawing everything smaller.

Zoom to Extents

This resets the view to show the whole drawing.

Note: it is not uncommon for a drawing to have some spurious detail (accidenatlly) inserted at a huge distance from the main body of the drawing. In this case zooming to the extent can make the drawing appear blank because everything is drawn so small.

Zoom All

Recalculates the models extents using what is currently visible (the drawing layers which are currently turned on), and then resets the view to show it.

Pan

Allows the user to Click and Drag the mouse to move the model around. Please note that it is limited to the current extents of the model.

You can also pan at any time by holding down the middle mouse button (which may be the scroll wheel on many mice).

Zoom to Window

With the Window option you can click and drag a rectangular window over part of the drawing. When you release the mouse button the screen will reset to show the windowed region enlarged to fill the full view.

Zoom Real-time

With this option you click the mouse button and drag up or down the screen. Dragging towards the top of the screen causes the drawing to smoothly zoom in and dragging downwards causes the drawing to smoothly zoom out.

You can also zoom the drawing in and out at any time by rotating the mouse scroll wheel.

Mouse Options

Double Left Click

Combines movement and zooming. Double clicking will move the centre of the window to the location originally under the mouse and will also zoom in by a factor of 1.5x magnification.

Double Right Click

Will zoom out of the centre by 1.5x magnification.

Middle Button (Pan)

Allows the user to Click and Drag the mouse to move the model around. Please note that it is limited to the current extents of the model.

Scroll Wheel (Zoom)

Scrolling the mouse wheel Forward/Backward will smoothly zoom the drawing In/Out. The direction can be inverted by selecting the Tools->Invert Mouse Wheel meun option.
